Welcome to this blog! My name is Hugh Dubrulle, and I’m a Professor in the History Department at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire, where I teach mainly European and military history. One of my Ph.D. fields was in the American Civil War, and my book, Ambivalent Nation: How Britain Imagined the American Civil War, was published by Louisiana State University Press in 2018.
I’ve decided to start a new research project that uses the ordeal of the 5th New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry to study the varied experiences of soldiers during the American Civil War. I hope to use this blog to work on various ideas associated with this research.
If you have any questions or comments about this research, you can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
